This post somehow remains one of the all-time favorites. So many people are still searching for the right answer to this question. I've followed this post up with a more recent one.
Like anything to do with social media, I think your use depends on what you want to get out of it. Do I like any of my own Facebook posts on my own profile? Hardly.
Do I sometimes go into a page for which I'm an admin as myself and like a post to help others find it? Yes. Sometimes.
As the platform changes, as my strategy for using the platform changes, so also my individual use.
